BELLEFONTAINE NEIGHBORS, Mo. — A devastating head-on collision late Sunday night on Lewis and Clark Boulevard near Comet Drive in Bellefontaine Neighbors resulted in the deaths of three young adults and left a 12-year-old girl with serious injuries. The crash, which occurred around 10:50 p.m., involved a 2014 Chevrolet Caprice and a 2021 Nissan Altima. According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Caprice, driven by a 25-year-old man, crossed the center line and collided head-on with the Altima. The impact caused both vehicles to catch fire.
The driver of the Caprice was pronounced dead at the scene. Two women in the Altima, aged 20 and 21, were also killed in the crash. A 12-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Caprice sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital. Her current condition has not been disclosed.
Authorities are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision. Lewis and Clark Boulevard was closed for several hours as emergency crews responded to the scene and cleared the wreckage.
The identities of the victims have not been released pending notification of next of kin. The community is mourning the loss of these young lives, and support is being extended to the families affected by this tragedy.
