Bibb County, Georgia — The community is grieving after a tragic event along the Ocmulgee River, where three young lives were lost in a devastating drowning incident on Tuesday, July 15, 2025. Families across the area are facing unimaginable heartbreak as they come to terms with the loss, while neighbors and friends gather in support and remembrance.

Among those whose lives were lost is Skyler Worthen, age 10, who was pronounced deceased at 2:58 p.m. at the scene by Deputy Coroner Ronnie Miley. Skyler’s energy and kindness had touched many in the community, leaving family members with cherished memories of joyful days and bright laughter.

Also among the victims is Summer McRae, just 7 years old, pronounced deceased earlier that same morning at 10:06 a.m. Summer was known for her playful spirit and gentle heart. Her passing has left classmates, friends, and loved ones struggling with a deep sense of loss.

The third young life lost is Johnny Collins III, whose passing has deeply shaken all who knew him. Johnny was recognized as a thoughtful and kind child, loved by many. His absence is especially felt by those who spent time with him at school, in the neighborhood, and during family gatherings.

According to reports, the children had been enjoying time near the river when the incident occurred. What began as a simple outing turned tragic in a matter of moments. Despite rapid emergency response efforts and the brave actions of first responders and bystanders, all three children could not be saved.

The community has since come together in both sorrow and solidarity. Vigils and memorial gatherings are being organized, where candles, flowers, and notes have been placed in honor of the young lives lost. Families are receiving support from neighbors, local organizations, and schools as they face the difficult days ahead.

Local officials have also expressed their condolences, emphasizing the importance of water safety and offering resources for grieving families. Counselors and support groups are available to help children and parents process the loss and provide comfort during this challenging time.

Though their lives were brief, Skyler, Summer, and Johnny left lasting impressions on everyone they encountered. Their memories continue to bring people together in shared grief and reflection, reinforcing the strength of community bonds in the face of profound loss.
