On Sunday, May 4, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., a violent altercation erupted during a large gathering near the intersection of 2nd Street and Elgin Avenue in downtown Tulsa, Oklahoma. The incident escalated into gunfire, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries. Two armed individuals were engaged by law enforcement officers during the chaos, with one suspect fatally shot and the other wounded. The Tulsa Police Department responded swiftly to the scene, where officers were already present due to the size of the crowd. Despite their presence, the situation quickly deteriorated as multiple individuals began discharging firearms into and out of the dense crowd. Officers identified one suspect actively firing a semi-automatic handgun while standing among the crowd. The suspect fled on foot as officers attempted to apprehend him. During the foot pursuit, an officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect. Officers immediately began administering life-saving measures at the scene.(Oklahoma City News)

While officers were rendering aid to the first suspect, a second armed individual positioned behind them was observed holding a semi-automatic pistol. An officer, positioned at a different vantage point, perceived the individual as an active threat and discharged their weapon. Despite officers’ efforts to provide medical assistance, the second suspect was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identities of the deceased suspects have not been released as of this report. The Tulsa Police Department’s Crime Scene Unit recovered multiple firearms, spent shell casings, and projectiles from the area. Several nearby buildings were also struck by gunfire, and officers are working closely with affected business owners to assess property damage.

The officers involved in the shootings have been placed on administrative leave, following standard department policy. The entirety of the incident—including the use of force by officers—will be thoroughly reviewed by the Tulsa County District Attorney’s Office.
